Glad you enjoyed it... It was another fun ...Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it... It was another fun (if frustrating - which was rather the point :) ) game...

Yep.. I'm a "dyed in the wool" 1/72 buff (have never really got into 15mm, apart from my Blue Moon Three Musketeers), but 6mm is certainly satisfying for large actions - and for when you want to play with C&C, terrain and distance issues. My personal preference is for the sadly unavailable ranges from H&R and Irregular's "smaller" 6mm (5mm?) bods, rather than the large Baccus (et al) figures.

Yes; the rules are a right old Home-bash (as usual).. Ideas from SP for Activation etc. are there, but the move/shoot/shock basics date right back to my home rules from the 80s. If you come across a really cheap copy of SP then maybe go for it, but the basics of the rules are really simple (esp. SP1). The "chrome" (Unit type characteristics, use of Personalities and random events) is where they are most fun, but, as always, I never use them "vanilla" for solo. I'd poke around Youtube to get a good feel for them before spending cash money..

Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated... I'm now off to engage in likely losing something spectacularly... :) Ian Denyerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09125926108621282248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6240037031475318548.post-8774321552827335322021-07-03T22:15:15.414+01:002021-07-03T22:15:15.414+01:00Well Ian, another great battle and report! I’ve be...Well Ian, another great battle and report! I’ve been really slammed by work of late so just had time today to finally read through this. (taking the weekend off) I really enjoyed the inclusion of confusion/line of sight limitations due to smoke from muskets and cannon fire. Also enjoy how you give attention to the C&C mind issues e.g. Col. Pipkin’s dilemma and Col. Potter’s problem charts!
These are the sorts of things that really add a lot of flavor, excitement, (frustration and nail biting?) to a game.
I have never been a fan of using scales below 1/72 but I’m gaining an appreciation for how much the 6 to even 15 mm scales allow for a far grander battle with all the inherent problems therein. Both this and your previous Pushan valley games come to mind.

I also have a hard time following my notes for AARs and would probably also be lost without the photos being numbered by the camera!
I am assuming once again that included in your house rules for this game are bits from SP? (activation tokens?) I might just have to see about getting the game for ideas. Worth it you think?
I’ll have to admit I’m starting to get a bit of a bite from the ‘Black Powder era bug’!
(As if I don’t already have enough projects underway!)
As always your games, write ups and rules seen both here and at the solo FB site are an inspiration.
Thanks for helping me to stretch further out of my box! Oh and I'm going to have to find a copy of that book about losing battles!Steven E. Popphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06932741088215521207noreply@blogger.com
